The exhibition space has both a permanent exhibition on the history of cinema, as well as temporary exhibitions on various topics. All Expos are freely accessible (without a movie ticket!).
The Royal Belgian Film Archive collects and preserves a unique collection of films and has one of the richest and most diverse film collections in Europe (including countless non-fiction films and newsreels), which combined form a real visual memory of our history. Despite the focus within CINEMATEK on the Belgian film heritage, the archive has a large collection of international masterpieces from film history.
In addition to the film and film related collections, CINEMATEK also has a collection of important pre-cinema objects and cinematographic objects, such as magic lanterns and cameras. A part of this collection is shown in the Wunderkammer.
