Les Neuf vies d’un chat
Neun Leben hat die Katze
Ula Stöckl, RFA - BRD 1968, Liane Hielscher, Marie Philippine, Jürgen Arndt ⁄ couleur - kleur ⁄ 90' ⁄ ST - OND: FR - NL
Ula Stöckl’s debut feature, made for her graduation from Institute for Film in Ulm, is considered by film critic Christa Maerker to be West Germany’s “first feminist film”. During the summer of 1967, journalist Katharina is visited by her French friend Anne. They take day trips and visit cafés, acquaintances, and parties. Structured through a series of conversations between women, Neun Leben hat die Katze examines the possibilities for female emancipation within a male-dominated society.
