For their 44th edition, Anima, the Brussels International Festival of Animation Film, proposes a focus on dreams. In this context, CINEMATEK is programming several majestic classics of the history of animated film. Marvels to be (re)discovered on the big screen!
Dreaming: falling asleep, abandoning yourself and letting the unconscious submerge you. Losing control, letting the craziest stories unfold, moving from one universe to another, from one emotion to another, changing bodies, or meeting mysterious characters... These are also the mainsprings of animated cinema: moving seamlessly (or almost seamlessly) from one space to another, evolving in fantastic worlds populated by mysterious creatures like our hero(in)es Nemo, Alice, Chihiro, Wendy, the Baron and the astronaut, Dumbo and all the others... Films work like dreams, with our desires, our impulses and our secrets. The field of possibilities is infinite…
