The unique film collection of CINEMATEK, one of the most important in the world, today consists of about 180,000 copies of about 72,000 different titles: fiction films, documentaries, feature films, newsreels, short films, ... in both analogue and digital form. The collection consists of international and Belgian titles and grows every year by an average of 2,000 copies.
The Royal Belgian Film Archive collects and preserves a unique collection of films and has one of the richest and most diverse film collections in Europe (including countless non-fiction films and newsreels), which combined form a real visual memory of our history. Despite the focus within CINEMATEK on the Belgian film heritage, the archive has a large collection of international masterpieces from film history.
