Call for Papers: International Conference on Jacques Feyder
CINEMATEK is pleased to announce its participation in the international conference dedicated to Belgian-French film director Jacques Feyder, a prominent European filmmaker of the 1920s and 1930s. Although widely acclaimed during his lifetime, Feyder’s contribution to film history has since been largely overlooked. This conference aims to re-examine his work, his influence, and his place within European and global cinema.
Titled Jacques Feyder: Creator, Master, Patron, the conference will take place at the Centre culturel international de Cerisy (CCIC) in France from 2 to 5 June 2027. It is organised in collaboration with La Cinémathèque française, the CNC, Gaumont, Cinémathèque suisse, the Fondation Jérôme Seydoux–Pathé, the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles.
As part of this initiative, the participating archives are also engaging in a joint effort to identify and document surviving Feyder film elements, with the aim of establishing the most complete filmography possible. This work will support both the conference in 2027 and a forthcoming publication in 2029.
Researchers and scholars are invited to submit proposals.
Deadline for proposals: 30 April 2026
Submission format: max. 2,000 characters + a short biographical and bibliographical note (5–10 lines)
Send submissions to: colloque.feyder.2027@protonmail.com
