Alice Guy kreeg van Gaumont de mogelijkheid om gelijktijdig met George Méliès de eerste fictiefilms te regisseren. Ze werd dan ook de eerste vrouwelijke regisseur van de filmgeschiedenis. De flamboyante Mabel Normand is gekend voor haar duo met Charlie Chaplin, voor en achter de camera.
